What educators are saying

This is a great supplemental resource for my Career Exploration curriculum. It is well organized and easy to implement.
I used this resource as a part of my personal finance unit in Economics. It had a lot of great information, and I always love activities that require students to get up out of their seats - it served as a great review of the day's content.

    Description

SAVE over 20% by purchasing this employee benefit packages bundle! Employee benefits are an important part of compensation. Teach your students the basics of employee benefits. This Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) contains 15 slides. Included in the presentation is a lesson hook activity for students to research employee benefits for popular businesses and a closing slide with review questions to use as a formative assessment.

Also included in this file is a PDF graphic organizer that is designed to accompany the PPT as a way for students to take notes and organize their thoughts. Benefits covered in the PPT include: basic requirements, savings plans, stock options, leave, educational reimbursement, insurance, incentive plans, retirement, flexible spending plans (FSA), and cafeteria-style plans.

Get your students up and moving with the engaging write the room activity! This product is perfect for teaching about employee benefits. This file includes 20 application-based prompts for students to match with key terminology. Students will move around the room to read each prompt and use the word bank on their worksheet to record their responses. An alternate worksheet is provided without the terms if you prefer not to give students the word bank. Seven reflection questions are also included in the activity. An answer key is included to review correct responses.

Employee benefits covered in this activity: health insurance, 401(k), 403(b), defined benefit plan, stock options, educational reimbursements, commission, PTO, paid holidays, FMLA, Social Security and Medicare, scheduling changes, Flexible Spending Account, dental insurance, and Cafeteria-Style Employee Benefits.

Other clues require students to calculate the amount contributed to a 401(k) with a match, amount contributed to Social Security and Medicare by an employer when provided with a total contributed by the employee, and total value of a compensation package including base salary and employee benefits.

This activity is a great way to practice employee benefit terminology and get students thinking and collaborating. Students can work individually or in small groups based on your discretion. At the conclusion of the activity, review the correct answers (included) with your students. I like to print the prompt cards on colored paper and laminate. This way they are ready to go and can be used again each semester.

Included in the write the room activity:

    • Employee Benefits Write the Room Answer Key (in this PDF)
    • Employee Benefits Write the Room Recording Worksheet (with and without word bank, in this PDF)
    • Employee Benefits Write the Room Prompt Cards (in this PDF)
