Description

This is a great comprehensive reading comprehension about energy! it begins with an introduction to energy and moves on to the Law of Conservation of Energy and Energy Conversions/Transformations. It then moves on to the forms of energy - categorization all of the forms under potential energy or kinetic energy. It summarizes mechanical, kinetic, potential, heat/thermal, radiant/light, sound, electrical, nuclear and chemical. The reading is about 2 pages and includes two pages of standards-aligned comprehension and analyses questions. The questions are both factual and higher-order thinking. After the questions, there is a visual graphic organizer activity to help students put the information together conceptually. This activity can be used for literacy groups, science stations, individual DEAR or homework reinforcement, etc. The activity is interesting and understandable. The content standards-aligned to 7th-grade essential standards (Energy Unit).
