Welcome to "The Literary Dragon's Dungeon," an immersive and educational digital escape room designed to engage students in the fascinating world of literature while embarking on an epic quest to save a village from a menacing dragon. In this adventure, students will need to combine their knowledge of literary devices, figurative language, author's purpose, parts of speech, and more to collect four elemental gems (Earth, Air, Water, and Fire) and unite them with the Legendary sword to smite the dragon.
**The Quest Begins:**
The story unfolds as students find themselves in the midst of a quaint village plagued by a terrifying dragon. The village's only hope lies in a collection of legendary gems and a sword said to have the power to vanquish the beast. To retrieve these crucial artifacts, players must navigate the Literary Dragon's Dungeon.
**Challenging Puzzles:**
Inside the dungeon, students will encounter a series challenges, each requiring them to delve into their English Language Arts (ELA) skills. These challenges are designed to test their comprehension of literary elements, grammar, and language usage.
**Reading Adventures:**
As students progress through the escape room, they'll stumble upon QR codes that lead them to captivating short stories and passages. Reading and analyzing these texts is essential to decipher clues and advance in the game. The stories are carefully chosen to showcase various literary devices and themes, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

I provide you with two short stories via QR code, however, if the short stories don't fit your class, no biggie! You can easily just replace the stories with your own (just make sure the answers line up to the game). This flexible customization also allows you to use this escape room again at a different point of the year if desired.
**Unlocking the Gems:**
The four elemental gems - Earth, Air, Water, and Fire - are scattered throughout the dungeon. To retrieve each gem, students must answer questions, solve riddles, and complete tasks that demonstrate their understanding of the literary concepts hidden within the texts they've encountered.
**Collecting Knowledge:**
Players will need to apply their knowledge of figurative language, symbolism, character development, and author's purpose to succeed. Each correct answer or task completed brings them closer to saving the village from the dragon's wrath.
**The Legendary Sword:**
Once all four elemental gems are in their possession, students must combine them with the Legendary sword by solving a final, challenging literary puzzle. Only when the sword is complete can they confront the dragon.
**Epic Showdown:**
The climax of the escape room is the epic battle between the students and the dragon, where they put their literary knowledge to the ultimate test. Success hinges on their ability to discern parts of speech to take down the dragon. Failure results in becoming his next meal!
