This resource includes 15 different teacher-created Common Core Document Based Question (DBQs) files for Latin America, Europe, Australia, and Canada that contain 625 questions that reference primary and secondary sources such as political cartoons, graphs, tables, pictures, and excerpts of informational texts. These document based questions are excellent supplements for helping students understand the application of the social studies principles they learn in class.

The document based questions challenge their thinking and extend their learning by helping them learn how to read maps, diagrams, reference materials, as well as analyze sarcasm, point of view, irony, and central ideas in political cartoons. These resources help students to become more critical readers of informational texts and resources and teachers students to evaluate resources for information. Each DBQ has the Literacy Standards for Writing in History/Social Studies Common Core alignment next to it so that you will be able to help students make connections between social studies and their literacy standards. The zipped folder includes 15 files that explore critical Canada, Latin America, Australia, and Europe elements including:
