Description
Executive functioning skills are the cognitive processes that help us to plan, organize, initiate, and sustain goal-directed behavior. While all students may struggle with executive functioning skills at some point in their academic careers, certain groups may be more likely to experience difficulties.
Some examples of students who may struggle with executive functioning skills include: Students with ADHD, students with learning disabilities, students with autism spectrum disorder, students with anxiety, or students who have experienced trauma. However, it is important to note that not all students who belong to these groups struggle with executive functioning.
Larger tasks and assignments can be overwhelming, can cause stress, and anxiety for many of our students.
Help your students learn the skill of breaking down tasks into smaller chunks with this resource. This resource includes
- Lesson plan with teacher script and examples
- Anchor chart/Poster for students
- Task cards with 12 different scenarios for students to practice the skill
- Activity/game for students to help reinforce the skill
- Sample plans for breaking down various tasks
