Description
Students examine the changes of the human body that are associated with sports, exercise and nutrition. The course is designed to provide students with a scientific basis for understanding “fitness” — especially why it varies between individuals, and how one can improve their own fitness. Students will have opportunities to explore concepts through hands-on activities and labs.
Unit 5 Biomechanics covers the Laws of Force and Class Levers. Students will participate in labs. This unit includes labs, lab setups, a slides presentation, note sheets and worksheets.
Unit 6: Injury Prevention focuses on common injuries in sports and ways to prevent injury. Students will examine the importance of warm-ups and cool-downs.
Unit 7: Aging and Gender Differences focuses on athletes as they age and the differences in genders through the eye of sports.
Unit 8: Coaching and Careers looks like the qualities and responsibilities of coaching as well as careers associated with Exercise Physiology. This unit includes 2 presentations, assessments and questionnaires.
