Holidays are a super busy, but super fun time in the classroom! Use this Christmas-themed figurative language activity to have some holiday fun while reviewing key content. {Note: This resource contains no specific references to Santa or any other religious aspects of the holiday.}
This center covers the following literary devices/figurative language:
- Simile
- Metaphor
- Personification
- Hyperbole
The students match the ornaments, gifts, and stars with the tree that names the type of figurative language being used. This resource has a total of 28 sentences for the students to read and sort.
Color and black and white versions are provided. A recording sheet and answer key are also included.
Use this activity for review, practice, as an early finisher activity, in a Literacy Center or RTI for struggling students.
About the Digital Version
There is a digital version of this activity included for use in Google Slides. In the digital version, students will drag moveable ornaments to Christmas trees on each slide to match them.
