What educators are saying

My students loved using this figurative language activity in class during our May-Do activities! It was authentic and strong practice for students.
Students completed this activity in groups of 4 in library class. It was a little challenging for the 3rd & 4th graders, but a great review for 5th & 6th graders. Students loved the activity- a fun seasonal way to work with figurative language.

Description

A figurative language center that is seasonal and aligned with the standards!

This resource is available in color and ink-saving black and white. The black and white version would allow you to have the students cut and glue to create a winter themed craftivity.

This resources covers metaphors, similes, personification, and hyperbole.

The students sort the snowball buckets into groups based on what figurative language is being described or used in the sentence.

This can be used as a reading center, RTI center, workstation activity, or craftivity (the black and white version).

About the Digital Version

This activity is also available in digital for Google Slides. The activity is interactive and allows your students to drag and sort snowballs to the correct type of figurative language based on what is used in the sentence.

The digital content is exactly the same as the printable, but allows you to assign it easily through Google Classroom. For digital access, go to page 3 of the PDF.
