What educators are saying

My students loved playing this game! I also like how you can make it challenging or a little more easy by removing or adding the boxes to cover the choices.
My students loved using this resource! I used it to make sure they were understanding figurative language! They had a great time playing the game I will definitely be using this resource again with my 4th graders in the Fall!

Description

Figurative Language Jeopardy style game show for 4th-9th Grade!

Want to have some fun practicing figurative speech? Here is a suggestion: a GAME SHOW!! Five fun categories that will get your students actively engaged.

I've added some differentiation to this game show!! Most slides have a blue screen covering the multiple choice answers. The student must look at the question and answer on his own. OR, the teacher can just click the blue screen to show the answer choices. A great way for older students to come up with their own answers, but still have the opportunity to click to see how they matched up with what was provided. Either way, points are still awarded to correct answers.

This download INCLUDES a copy for Google Classroom! Great for Distance Learning. The GC version does not include scoring and the point values do not disappear...this is just a limitation of Google Slides. However, the fun and learning are STILL THERE! Students use this in PRESENT MODE!!!

Includes scoring on PC (not Macs-- please pass if you have a Mac).

Categories include:

Similes- (ex) What is the meaning of this simile? Zoe's smile is as bright as the sun.

Metaphors- (ex) What is the meaning of this metaphor? Anson is a big chicken.

Personification - (ex) Which sentence uses personification? The ice cream looks delicious. The ice cream is calling my name.

Alliteration - (ex) The girl grabbed the __ goose. (golden, squawking)

Idioms- (ex) What is the meaning of this idiom? Sal is feeling under the weather. She needs an umbrella. She doesn't feel well.

You AND your kids are going to love choosing which "contestants" team they are on. When you get the correct answer, check it on the screen, then click YOUR team's contestant to be awarded the points!

Having problems? Don't fret! And certainly don't give feedback yet! Let's get this game going! Just drop me an email at iTeachTinyToes@gmail.com so I can get it working for you. Then, of COURSE you'll want to leave some love so you'll get credits for future TpT purchases! Also, let me know which contestants you'd like to see on the show!

If you have a smartboard or any other type of interactive whiteboard, you can also use the projection from those and just use the interactive portion without having to convert the file to whatever it is you use! If you're able to "play" a regular powerpoint, you should be able to play this one too!

Click the star to follow me... you'll know right away when I've posted new products.
