What educators are saying

This is great and so engaging. My students loved listening to the songs to find the examples of figurative language. They have used this a few times because they find something new each time.
My students really enjoy this figurative language scavenger hunt. I do it as reinforcement of figurative language in grade 11 English classes.

Description

Looking for a fun way to review or reinforce figurative language terms or literary devices? Look no more! This student-centered activity is it! Engage students and involve them in finding examples of similes, metaphors, personification, hyperbole, oxymoron, alliteration, etc. in MUSIC that they enjoy, using technology they love.

This worksheet contains:

---9 QR codes (students use their PHONE or any device with a camera including IPAD, TABLET or LAPTOP with camera * )

---These 9 QR codes are linked to 9 songs with lyrics

---fill-in-the-blank type questions

---Easy to read instructions

---Answer Key

Students are prompted (through questions) to find examples of specific figurative language terms within song lyrics. The lyrics appear on the screen while the song plays in the background. All songs have been screened to be wholesome and kid-friendly.

Could easily be modified and used as Task Cards.

Use this as a STATION activity to reinforce learning.

Motivating and Fun as a game or contest between teams!

NOTE: Some school districts do not allow access to Youtube, which is where all of the lyrics videos connected to the QR codes lead. If your district's technology team blocks the access to this website, you will not be able to use the activity unless you have a way to bypass the filter.

Also, as of today, all of the internet links work, but that doesn't mean that all will work tomorrow. I wish I could guarantee that all of the links will work for someone's whole teaching career :), but reality is that the internet is always changing. Please purchase with that in mind, and feel free to email me if you find a broken link.

*In addition, having a device with a camera for each group or individual to use is very important to utilize this product.
