As the teacher you can:
-Do all three projects as a class together.
-Allow students to pick their job/project.
-Combination of both.
-You have total control how to present this to your students.
These projects are based around math, science, and ELA. BUT, the larger component allows students to dictate what and how to complete each project. This is based on; choices they make, creativity, imagination, ability to problem-solve, and critical thinking skills. Students will have to; utilize skills, apply prior knowledge, think critically, practice organizational skills, and work collaboratively within their classroom.
This is a multitiered PBL designed to engage all learners, strengthen content areas, and build independent and problem solving skills using real-world applications. The three projects all vary in complexity, but each allow for immediate differentiation based on student/teacher choice and how rigorous they choose to make their projects. The more time and effort applied will create a more comprehensive final project.
Depending on your classroom, you could have a class all working on three different projects, all at different points in the project. Each project contains specific instructions that should allow students to work at their own pace. You will be asked questions, but push your students to build their independence and collaboration skills before they ask you what to do.
Even though each project has a specific objective, they are still very open-ended and rely on student input to create their outcomes.
