What educators are saying

This is a great help for my students who struggle with memorizing multiplication facts. This makes it much easier for them to find common denominators!

Description

If your students are struggling to identify the least common multiple of two numbers to use with fractions, this chart will help! Created with my special education students in mind, this resource functions like a multiplication chart. Looking at the intersection of any two numbers will give you the least common multiple of those numbers, allowing students to easily identify the least common denominator of two fractions.

For example, at the intersection of 2 and 4, you will find 4, which is the least common multiple of those numbers and NOT the product of 2 and 4. To avoid confusion, the chart is clearly labeled as "Common Denominator Chart".

Not at all! This resource is only intended as another tool for your students and to help students identify the least common multiple of two numbers.

Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
