What educators are saying
This was a great resource to add to my area and perimeter unit, I used it as a review/study guide before our unit test and students did so well with it!
Description
This packet gives students the opportunity to practice finding area of quadrilaterals and other polygons by decomposing the shapes in triangles and rectangles. Students need to be able to find the area of rectangles and triangles in order to be successful on these problems. The first 10 problems challenge students to find the area of quadrilaterals and other polygons. The remaining 5 problems challenge students to find the fraction of shaded region inside of polygons. These problems are similar to question #7 on the 6th grade PARCC practice test (calculator part).

CCSS6.G.A.1
Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
