What educators are saying

I really like this unit and found out our FCS teacher uses something very similar with a focus on the food, hoping we can collab next year.
This project was a lifesaver for my business and marketing class. I will reuse it again next year for sure. We also planned a field trip to visit local food trucks, that made everyone happy!

Food Truck Business Simulation Teacher Guide

    Description

Engage your students in course content with this relatable, food truck-themed project. This product incorporates many aspects of the business world including: marketing, finance, sales, advertising, business pitches, business plans, budgeting, social media, etc. This is a semester long business simulation project meant to accompany a high school business course such as Introduction to Business and Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Essentials, or Marketing I.

For this project I split up the students into groups, however, it can be done individually. Students come up with their own food truck concept and work throughout the semester on the project. Number of days per project are listed in Preview.

At the end of the semester I have students pitch their business ideas to the class and a few “guest investors” for presentations. I usually recruit adult guests from the school or the community to observe their business pitches. Each student gets $5,000 of imaginary money to invest in 1 food truck. The adult guest investors each get $25,000 to invest. I typically allow them to split up their money among groups as they see fit. I then total up all the money and whichever group gets the most money gets extra credit on the project.

My aim at creating this project was to come up with a fun, relatable way for students to apply the concepts learned in class. In my experiences, my students have loved this project and have had some great ideas!

***Please note this is not meant to be a standalone curriculum, but rather a project to supplement your course. This is a semester long project and does not include daily lesson plans. Most items in this bundle are fully EDITABLE so you can make them your own. A few exceptions do exist such as the teacher guide, free products, and sample work. See below for a comprehensive list of files included.

The materials in this file take several weeks to complete. At my school class periods are 90 minutes, listed in the Preview are estimated days or portion of a class period needed for each assignment.

I'm also happy to answer any questions about the project. Just post in the Q and A if you need clarification on project specifics. These projects are also available for individual purchase in my Business Girl store.
