    Materials included:

Forms of Business Ownership Graphic Organizer Sorting and Research Activity: In this high school business activity students will sort characteristics of business ownership types (sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation) by cutting and pasting in the print format or dragging and dropping in the digital version. Next, students will research examples of familiar businesses for each form of business ownership.

Business Ownership Discussion Question Chat Stations: This activity is the perfect addition to your high school forms of business ownership unit covering sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, and franchises.

If you're not familiar with the idea of chat stations it is essentially where students move around the room to complete a task. This product contains 10 open-ended discussion questions on forms of business ownership for a high school business class. After the activity, discuss student responses with the provided discussion guide.

Online Store Partnership Agreement: In this business writing project, high school students will compose a partnership agreement for an online store of their creation.

Introduce the project with the project instructions. Next, the planning worksheet guides students through the writing process by providing prompts for each section. Then students use this information to compose their partnership agreement. Lastly, students respond to 4 reflection questions. Use the provided grading rubric to assess student work.

Corporation Guided Research Project: With this guided research project, high school students will research publicly traded corporations. Students will select a corporation (sample list provided) and research the background, offerings, marketing, and other important aspects of a corporation. Use the provided grading rubric to assess student work.

Franchise Scavenger Hunt & Research Activity: This Internet scavenger hunt and research activity are easy to use, engaging, and the perfect ready-to-go resource for your business ownership unit. High school students will set on a web quest to answer 11 questions that develop basic franchise vocabulary knowledge and explore interesting facts about franchises. Terminology covered includes franchise, royalty fee, franchise agreement, and operating costs. Students will discover which industries tend to franchise, popular businesses that franchise, and the advantages/disadvantages of the franchise model. Once students have conducted their research, review answers (key with suggested answers provided) as a class.

After students conduct the Internet scavenger hunt they will select 3 franchised businesses to examine for costs and benefits. Students will then select 1 to pitch to a group or class. Each member of the group or class will then select 1 of those presented that they believe would be the best opportunity and answer the reflection question rationalizing their choice.

Fun Business Ownership Escape Room: Increase engagement in your high school business structures lesson with this fun, escape room activity. This activity covers types of business ownership (sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, nonprofit, franchise, and cooperative), advantages/disadvantages for types of business ownership, partnership agreement, franchise costs, and stock symbols. This resource promotes collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving as students work to solve 5 locks and escape.

No physical locks are needed to complete this activity. This product includes a digital and printable version for flexibility. The digital version is post-and-go with no prep. The printable version requires you to set up the activity but will get your students out of their seats for an interactive experience.

In this challenging, 5-lock activity with 22 clues students will escape to "get paid". A detailed teacher guide is included with the answers to each clue. This activity is perfect for your Introduction to Business, Marketing I, or Entrepreneurship course. When students finish or "escape" I like to provide extra credit or a small prize to those who finish first. Based on your time constraints, all students may not escape.

    Note to Teacher:

    • The print and digital product versions cover the same material but have been provided in two formats to provide you the flexibility to fit the needs of your classroom.
    • If you choose to use the digital version of the activities, each student/ group will edit their own copy. The content on the worksheets is not editable but text boxes/ tables have been added to allow students to complete the document electronically.
