    Description

This fractions bundle has everything you need to introduce 4th grade students to fraction concepts. These resources focus on many of the math standards related to fourth grade fractions, including equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, and comparing fractions. Students learn how to determine the least common multiple (LCM) to simplify fractions. Then, they learn how to determine the greatest common factor (GCF) to compare fractions. The activities in this math bundle make learning fraction concepts fun and easy! Students love the activities while teachers love the convenience of these no-prep resources that can be used year after year! These activities can be used for test prep, review, or introduction of 4th grade fraction concepts.

The standards covered in this bundle include:

    → Equivalent Fractions

→ Simplifying Fractions (and Least Common Multiple)

→ Comparing and Ordering Fractions (and Greatest Common Factor)

    → Benchmark Fractions

Explain why a fraction 𝘢/𝘣 is equivalent to a fraction (𝘯 × 𝘢)/(𝘯 × 𝘣) by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators, or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as 1/2. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
