What educators are saying
Description
Noël | Christmas activity in French: this collaborative poster is a community-building activity to celebrate "Noël". Each student colors a square which is part of a poster. Next, they assemble the poster by putting the colored squares together. They'll be surprised by the "mystery" image that'll be formed.
You might wrap up the activity with a discussion on how collaborationis a great way to celebrate the spirit of Christmas.
There are 30 squares to color. It's one square per page. If printed on letter-sized paper, the poster should be about 45 in (w) x 37.5 in (h), approximately 114cm x 95cm
[one square per page–you'll need to print 30 sheets for the activity]
I suggest printing 2 or 4 pages per sheet to get smaller-sized posters if your classroom lacks space.
❤️ Your students will love finding out how the individual squares end up creating a whole poster with a beautiful Christmas-themed image.
❤️ You'll love how this activity is easy to prep, engages students, and impresses everyone.
TEACHERS LIKE YOU SAID…
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nathalie I. says, "My students LOVED this activity! They really enjoyed seeing it come together. I did a raffle right before Christmas to see who would get to take it home. They are already asking to do another one!"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kaitlin H. says, "My students loved this activity and really worked well together. We displayed it in the hallway outside our door afterwards and got lots of compliments from other teachers. Even the principal popped their head in to commend them on a job well done!"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Marcie C. says, "This resource was so much fun for my students! Each time they coloured a puzzle piece they were eager to choose another one. I glued them all together and we admired the picture for a few days. On the last day of school before Christmas holidays, I drew a name and one lucky student got to take it home. I will definitely do this again!"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Grace I. says, "I did this activity in the last week of classes with my Grades 3/4 and 4/5 classes. They happily coloured while I had French Christmas music playing in the background. I had some students assigned to cutting out the finished coloured pieces while two other students were assigned to glue the pieces together. They loved the result and it drew a lot of compliments from students and staff!"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Valerie S. says, "I used this as a pre-Christmas break activity in my 1st - 6th grade classes and they LOVED it! In 1st-3rd grades, they did 1 puzzle in each class, but in 4th - 6th grades, I divided the classes into teams in our gym and they raced to put together the puzzles they colored. We had a great time and I enjoyed watching their enthusiasm in trying to piece the puzzle together. I should mention that I whited-out the bottom right corner of each puzzle piece identifying where each puzzle piece would fit, to add to the competitive nature of our racing.) Loved this!"
