French Immersion Take-Home Reading Program

I have developed an easy Take-Home Reading Program for the French Immersion elementary grades. I will be using my reading program for Grade3 but it can easily be adapted to also suit the needs of Grade 2, 4, or 5.

Journal de lecture: You will need to assign a reading journal to each student. There are 3 different title pages you can choose from for the “Journal de lecture”.

Fiche de lecture: I have included two optional reading logs. These can be glued into the journal at the beginning of each month (Fiche 1) or when completed (Fiche 2). Parents help complete the reading logs by signing every time their child reads or monthly (depending on which log you decide to go with).

Reading Sheets: I have included 10 different question sheets which can be glued into the journal on a weekly basis. You can have all students hand in their journals on Mondays or assign a different weekday per group of 4-5 students. The sheets vary in difficulty and some may need explanation before you assign them.

Parent Cheat Sheet: Laminate a copy for each parent and send home at the beginning of the year with a note explaining your reading program.

It is also a nice touch to put the Cheat Sheet, Journal and weekly book in either a folder or a book bag.
