Description
Pour la conscience phonologique | French Phonics Minibooks to practice decoding and encoding French sounds (les sons français): if you're adopting a Science of Reading approach to teaching French, this resource is for you! Students will be working with minibooks that are focused on French phonics.
There are two versions of the minibooks:
- one for decoding/blending practice
- another one for encoding (spelling/writing) practice
ACTIVITY 1: decode, blend, read, and choose the corresponding image
There are two words and three images per page. Students touch the dots under each grapheme as they sound them out. Then, students blend the sounds together, and read the words. Next, they cut and paste the images corresponding to the words. One of the images will not be used!
NOTE: A few pages will only have two images.
ACTIVITY 2: encoding (writing) practice – say the word, write the word, one grapheme per box
There are two images per page. Students need to say the word that the images represent. Then, students write the words, one sound per box.
The box for the focus sound is gray. The other boxes are white.
Silent letters are already on the page and they're light gray.
❤️ Your students will love practicing working with these minibooks because it's a very hands-on activity. They'll be practicing a lot of skills that are so important for their phonological and phonemic awareness so that they'll know their French sounds better!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Each minibook has one half-page for each sound (phoneme).
