What educators are saying

This was a super fun activity to start the year. It really had kids engaged and not only helped with problem-solving and positive self-talk but also got them interacting with new people. Great resource!
We are required to complete Grit and Growth Mindset activities weekly as one of our Advisory rotations. This resource provided engaging, entertaining activities that held students interests AND connected to those Social Emotional learning competencies we are asked to target. Thank you!

    Description

✨Grit & Growth Mindset Challenges: Build Resiliency Skills✨ Most growth mindset activities, posters, bulletin boards, coloring pages, positive affirmations or worksheets only discuss what Growth Mindset is & its importance. These GRIT challenges & Growth Mindset activities allow students to improve SEL, Social Emotional Learning, build Resiliency Skills, and understand how to apply these theories by practicing them in the learning pit. Of all the things we teach our students, it’s hard to think of a concept or objective in the curriculum as crucial as instilling grit or how to have a growth mindset.

Giving students the tools they need to face adversity or challenges with optimism, control, and resilience is a skill that will carry them to a brighter future.

    • That’s the goal of educators everywhere: provide students the tools to create a brighter future.

These activities are designed to make students struggle productively and experience the depths of the learning pit. With these activities, you will be able to pinpoint those emotions and capitalize on them. Improve emotional intelligence and tap into potential with this power-packed activity bundle. Whether you are an upper elementary, middle school, or high school teacher, you can implement these challenges into your classroom. These challenges have even been used in staff trainings from school administrations. Using this 1-2-3 punch of games, puzzles, team-building activities, papercraft design sets, and more, instill a growth mindset in students!

Challenge your students! Get started today!

    Here's what you'll get:

These challenges apply to such a wide range of grade and age levels because they are based on:

    • Thinking outside the box
    • Persevering to solve
    • Learning from mistakes

There is never a wrong time to practice productive struggle in the classroom. I’ve designed these challenges to last the entire year.

The best thing about this bundle is that activities are so versatile. Many teachers have found success using these challenges with the first week of school activities, goal-setting activities, beginning of new terms, substitutes, brain breaks, stations, get-to-know-you activities, or even their own unit. I enjoy introducing these challenges in the first week of school or the first day of math class to refer to the experiences throughout the year.  Once introduced, I continue to introduce approximately one new activity a week until the end of the year. I like to give students about a week per activity.

As tempting as it is to give them the answers they desperately want, the wrestle is an essential part. With many of these challenges, the solution is SIMPLE. However, it requires the students to think outside the box. My favorite part of this product line is the reflection sheet. Students identify emotion in the learning pit that best illustrates their mindset before the activity ends. The reflection page is only included in the paid products, not the free samples or activities.

    TEACHERS LIKE YOU SAID…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amanda B. (4th-6th grade) says, "Great for brain breaks for my students - even used the mazes for 3rd grade as an extra challenge! Very pleased with the materials - thank you!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Robert C. (4th Grade) This is a great unit. It actually makes the kids practice the skills, rather than just talk about it. It also demonstrates a great understanding of Grit, and doesn't just give it the typical educator lip service.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Traci Marr (9th grade) says, “Students enjoyed the challenge of the activities! Used in special education resource class!  Once they understood how they worked, we took the last 10 minutes of class a couple of times a week to work on them.  Students looked forward to them. Overall, we started seeing changes in behavior on difficult curricular material!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mrs. Rogers (9th grade) says, “My students have a love/hate relationship with these challenges! We've been working on these since the first day of school. It's fun to hear them struggle, then you hear the "I GOT IT!"  So glad I purchased the bundle. Definitely useful!”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amber L. (5th grade) says, “My kids beg for these challenges.  Love them!”

    What is the teaching duration?

The duration of this unit is entirely dependent on how you time it. I intended for these challenges to last throughout the year; One challenge per week, etc. This gives students adequate time to struggle with the challenge when necessary. Time is a necessity for developing Grit. However, many teachers will use these for a quick unit or one a day as a “brain break.”

What grade levels are intended for the Growth Mindset Activities?

A growth mindset is essential to learn at any age because it helps students find how they react to difficult situations. It also allows teachers to facilitate a productive struggle in the classroom. However, I find that these activities are best used with 3rd grade and above. Some of the activities involve simple addition and maze challenges that have tested positive with 3rd-grade level and above.
