What educators are saying
Description
This high school Geometry activity utilizes real world applications of distance and midpoint formulas. Printable and digital versions of this activity are included, which is great for hybrid learning, distance learning, or in person!
Students will create an itinerary or use one of the 8 provided, pre-planned itineraries for a 5-day road trip around the United States! They will determine their distance driven each day and calculate the location of a "pit stop" halfway for each day (midpoint). They will then calculate the total miles driven, how long they spent driving, how many gallons of gas used, and how much money they will spend on gas.
You must have a free Google account to access the digital version of this activity! The link to the digital version is on the "Teaching Tips and TOU" page in the zip file! Please choose "Make a Copy" when prompted! The digital version is editable and includes the option for an extension of where students will write a short story about their road trip.
Please be sure to read the Terms of Use and Teaching Tips included with this activity!
