What educators are saying

I love all of your ressources! These are great for review before tests, early finishers, homework, or to simply reinforce concepts and fluency! Thank you!
I used this resource as a review before a unit test. My students loved guessing which emoji their graphs would form! It was a great way to give extra practice in a low stakes assignment!

Description

Challenge and engage students with this fun practice activity for transformations! Students must translate, reflect, rotate, and dilate figures to create winter emojis on coordinate planes.

10 exercises will challenge students to complete a variety of transformations in order to create an emoji (like a snowflake, sneezing emoji face, mountain, etc.). Students will know if they are doing them correctly if they create an emoji.

Included:

  • Translation Practice
  • Dilation Practice (about the origin)
  • Reflection Practice: Reflect over the y-axis
  • Reflection Practice: Reflect over the line y = x
  • Rotation Practice: Rotate 180 degrees around origin
  • Rotation Practice: Rotate 90 degrees clockwise around origin
  • Rigid Transformations Practice
  • Mixed & Multi-Step Transformations Practice (3 activities of increasing difficulty)

I love activities that are engaging and help students learn!

Verify experimentally the properties of rotations, reflections, and translations:
Lines are taken to lines, and line segments to line segments of the same length.
Angles are taken to angles of the same measure.
Parallel lines are taken to parallel lines.
Describe the effect of dilations, translations, rotations, and reflections on two-dimensional figures using coordinates.
