Grant Proposal: Grant Proposal for Earth Science - "Down to Earth: Using a GPS to Explore Earth Science"-

The Handheld Global Positioning Satellite receiver (GPS) is the perfect tool to add interest and enthusiasm to lessons in earth science and other academic areas of study.

Students will use the GPS as a stimulus to the learning process. This device will lead the "hunter" to the "treasure" of discovery and understanding. A variety of science experiments and field investigations can be found naturally on the school grounds by following preselected coordinates. Additional explorations will be available by placing supplies, tools, and instructions in a cache which the teacher or neighboring class "hides" on the playground prior to the class period.
