Description

This product tells the myth of Daedalus and Icarus. It describes how Daedalus was a skilled craftsman who designed and built the Labyrinth for the part-man, part-bull Minotaur. It goes on to explain how Daedalus and Icarus were imprisoned, how Daedalus built two pairs of wings to escape, and how Icarus flew too closely to the sun and fell into the sea. Two minor variations of the myth are also mentioned.

At the end of the text, there are two extended response questions:

1. Do you think that there was anything Daedalus could have done differently to avoid Icarus's death? Why or why not?

2. Why do you think Icarus was unable to control himself and ended up flying to closely to the sun? What do you think you would have done in his situation?

A PDF worksheet, a link to download the worksheet in Google Slides, an optional worksheet with ten multiple-choice questions, an answer key, and a link to download the questions as a Google Form are all included.

Short extended responses can vary, so there is not answer key for those.
