Description

Games are one of the BEST ways to solidify learning, and this game will truly have your students' gears turning! In this pair stare game, students need to find the ONE Greek or Latin ROOT match between any two cards!

See how it works!

Look at the third thumbnail above. Can YOU find the *one* root that appears on both playing cards? When you think you have the answer, click the Preview above to see if you were right! BONUS points if you know what the root means! =)

Root words are useful for strengthening vocabulary, understanding language, and are even important for STEM fields as well. If you have any budding doctors, biomedical engineers, or medical professionals, root words will become a building block of their education. These are a great way to prepare for standardized tests as well.

31 roots are included in this game (see the list below). Each card includes a DIFFERENT root word, so students will be exposed to hundreds of different words with common roots.

CONTENTS

  • Deck of 30 pair stare cards (in two fonts, and color or black and white)
  • Root words list
  • Printables to support the activity
  • Frayer-model organizers

Students will need to become familiar with the root words first. You can do this with the materials provided, or visit one of my other Greek and Latin Root listings.
