Description
If your looking for a fun Groundhog Day activity that includes a little history, reading, writing, graphing, poetry, singing and art then this is ALL YOU NEED. This Groundhog Unit is easy to use and would work great as a whole class activity, small group or in a literacy center activity.
This Unit is DIGITAL and PRINTABLE!
This resource will save you lots of work because EVERYTHING is all planned out, it is even differentiated a bit, there are easy to follow, step by step lesson plans and ALL the materials are included for you! Just PRINT and TEACH!
The students learn about the history of Groundhog Day, read a mini book or close read, answer comprehension questions, read a poem or sing it, graph data, write out the poem and make a groundhog art activity with a shadow attached to him.

HOW IT WORKS
A few days before Groundhog Day you can start teaching about this fun tradition. I have included the history about the day. Students will also get to read a mini book that includes comprehension questions on each page, then read a close read (there are 2 levels), and then they read a little poem about the groundhog and do an art project with it. In the end the student does some graphing with the data.
