Groundhog's Day is a great time to study this animal that goes by many names!
This mini-unit teachers about groundhogs and the folklore around Groundhog's Day in the United States.
It aligns with the NGSS Kindergarten Standards, but it great for students K-2 and uses an inquiry approach to learning.
Lessons:
Lesson 1: How does a groundhog survive? (A look at the features of a groundhog.)
Lesson 2: Groundhog Facts
Lesson 3: All About Burrows
Lesson 4: Groundhog's Day
There are 3 slideshows in PowerPoint and Smart Board, so you can use what works for you. The slides are also printable in case a projector is not available!
