HMH - Into Reading - Spelling Activities - Modules 1-4 BUNDLE - 4th Grade

Take a break from worksheets, and get ready to add more FUN and GAMES into your students' spelling practice! I created this resource to use in my own classroom after our adoption of HMH Into Reading. My 4th graders LOVE the games and activities that are ready-to-use, and I know your students will too!

This BUNDLE combines the first FOUR modules from the 4th Grade HMH Into Reading spelling lists.

Included in this resource for each module:

• A 4-page PDF teacher guide.
• The PDF includes a link to make a copy of an editable Google Sheet that contains ALL the links needed for each module.
• The PDF also includes a link to make a copy of an editable Google Slides activity board for each lesson in the module (3 lessons per module).
  • Each lesson contains the 20 basic spelling words from the list (no review or challenge words).

The editable Google Slides activity board is ready to share out with students, and it has links to 4 different ready-to-play resources: Snowman, WordMaster ("Wordle"), Typing Test, and Spelling Manager. Spelling Manager has many different activities available from that one link.

• The links will take you to demo versions of the activities from Flippity's website. These activities have been created through the templates available on their site.

In addition to the activity board, the Google Sheet also has links for BONUS activities....perfect for whole-class warm-ups, sponge activities, center activities, and more!

• Bonus #1: DIGITAL sort cards! Say goodbye to printing, copying, and student cutting of paper sort cards! ALL of the lessons have a link for a digital sort! Check out a sample from Module 1, Week 1!
• Bonus #2: Links to two more games through Wordwall.net. Students can complete a word scramble (anagrams) or an online word search. They get immediate feedback and YOU get to see their results. My class LOOOOVES when I share the Wordwall activities with them!

How do I use this in MY classroom?

When we launch a new word list, I send a link to the Google Slides activity board in my weekly email to families. I also post the activity board on our Google Classroom. It's always available to students during "May-Do" time, as early finisher activities, and as a center activity during spelling and word work. Students never get sick of it because they always have different options to choose from!

At times I'll pull up the Snowman link and play a few rounds with the whole class as a warm-up to our spelling time, or even during transitions between other activities during the day. It's a great activity to pull up when we have a few minutes left before lining up for lunch!

Later in the week, I'll usually set aside 10 minutes for students to play one of the Wordwall bonus activities. A day or two before the spelling test, I'll leave the Wordwall links on Google Classroom if students want to play more at home....they always do!
