What educators are saying

My students loved this resource! Thank you for taking the time to make it and share it with all of us!
My students struggled with some of the challenges because they did not read carefully. It made them think and encouraged some great academic discussions.

Description

This Halloween digital escape room is a fun way for kids to practice some key English Language Arts skills while be a completely no prep activity for you!

This fun digital escape room is completed on Google Forms. Students will be a part of a group of friend’s adventure that begins when they accept a dare to go into a haunted house on Halloween night. The friends get trapped in the house by the mansion’s ghost and must solve 12 clues and complete 12 ELA skill-based challenges to move on to the next section.

This is completely paperless, though a printable and optional answer page is included, along with a Google Doc version of the answer page for students to track their answers.

All you have to do is open the provided link to a Google Form. This will have you make a copy of the form, which you will be able to add to your Google Drive. Then, you can share the link with your students via Google Classroom, or any other platform you use.

This game can be played individually or in a small group. It will also work for distance learning if this is something your school is participating in.

All aspects of the game are in Google Forms. Students do not have to click between different tabs.

If students do not finish the game during the allotted time, there is no guarantee that their answers will be saved so you can have students use the answer page in case.

To move to each new section, students first have to accept the challenge. Then, they will read a little snippet of a story. At the end of each snippet, there is a clue that students will need to make an inference in order to type in the answer to move to the next section. After each section, there is a challenge that focuses on an ELA skill. Again, students must accurately answer this question to move on to the next part.

Not only are students practicing key skills, but they are also reading the entire time as they follow the adventures of the four friends while they try to break out of the haunted mansion.

NOTE: The scenarios and the challenges are NOT editable, but answer choices can be edited.
