Description
You NEED this Hands-On Number Bond Tool in each Math Tool Kit! Kids need to build a solid foundation of Number Sense to be able to Compose and Decompose numbers by understanding the different number combinations for numbers 1-20.
My students were struggling with balancing equal equations, filling out missing parts of number bonds and with missing addends. I needed an abacus for all the different combinations 1-20, so I created them!

⭐ 2 Templates for numbers 1-20 ( color & bw, plus an editable version)
> Each template also has a counting dots, a number bond and number sentence.

<> I suggest teaching these as a tool to help with their work before putting them out for independent practice as a center. Keep them with your other math manipulatives that your students use!
<> There is some prep involved to make these with the beads and pipe cleaners*, but teachers have told me that their students created their own while working on fine motor skills! I had some wonderful parents make mine!
<> To Assemble: (*beads and pipe cleaners are not included)
1st: Print (preferably on cardstock) I printed mine in color (yay for HP instant ink). You could print the bw version on different colored cardstock.
2nd: Laminate to make them last longer. I sent my little laminator and sheets home with a parent, along with the other materials to make them!
3rd: Punch holes and put pipe clean through one side.
4th: String the correct number of pony beads on each pipe cleaner. I like to use an AB pattern.
5th: Put the pipe cleaner through the other hole and tape it securely to the back.
