Handwriting Scoot- Winter Words

Each set of Handwriting Scoot comes in two versions – Zaner Bloser and D’nealian handwriting. You can choose the set that goes with the style you teach. There are 24 cards.

Black and white versions are also included.

Please look at the preview to see the words that are included and make sure that they will be appropriate for the level of your students. 2nd graders were in mind when creating this list but it can be a fun review for third graders or a challenge for first graders.

Play this game just like regular scoot. Lay out the cards around the room in an orderly fashion. Give students the recording sheet (copy back to back for numbers 1-24), and students start by standing at one card. They have to write the word on the card as neat as possible on their recording sheet. When you say “Scoot,” they move on to the next number and do the same thing.

You can make this into a handwriting challenge by telling them that you will be picking the neatest handwriting or top three neatest recording sheets to receive some sort of reward. Students practice concept vocabulary words as well as handwriting through this FUN activity.
