WORKBOOK CONTAINS:
- COVER PAGE + TABLE OF CONTENTS (3 pages)
- CHAPTER WORK (34 pages): Each chapter (17) has two pages of work which includes vocab terms from the reading, a fill-in-the-blank chapter summary, and 4-6 follow-up comprehension questions (short answer, T/F, and multiple choice). Each chapter has an additional page (or 2) for either a vocabluary review or a literature skill activity.
- VOCABULARY REVIEWS (5 pages): There are vocab reviews after chapters 4, 8, 13, and 17. Activities include 2 crossword puzzles, a cryptogram activity, and a choose-the-best-usage activity.
- LITERATURE SKILL ACTIVITIES (15 pages): Every chapter that doesn't have a vocab review has a literature skill activity. Skills include: character traits, compare & contrast (Venn Diagram), setting, point of view, foreshadowing, mid-book comprehension review, cause & effect, drawing conclusions, sequencing, plot, and 3 connecting-to-the-story activites - design a wizard trading card, Mirror of Erised drawing activity, and a fun logic puzzle.
- SUMMARY ACTIVITIES (6 pages): There's a movie vs book comparison guide at the end and a 40-item final assessment (matching, T/F, multiple choice, & short-answer response).
The printable workbook is available as a PDF in black + white (most convenient) and in color. A MODIFIED version in print (b+w & color) is included for SPED and struggling learners. Adaptations include adding word banks under fill-in-the-blank chapter summaries (all 17), a modified vocab activity showing definitions, and a few helpful hints on several pages not in the regular version. Students who’d benefit from modified curriculum can complete this COMPATIBLE version along side peers completing the regular version. Adaptations are subtle, in small print, and aren't obviously different than the regular version.
