Description

This is an original 10-minute play that I wrote around a theme of if we care for our world, and it will return the favor.

It is for 4 actors: one male, two females, one gender non-specific role. The intended age of performers is upper elementary through adults.

Summary:

Kaia is a 10-year-old girl who has grown up in the country her whole life. Her best friends are Arbor (a tree in her backyard), Rio (a river in her backyard), Zephyr (the gentle breeze). Today, Kaia has come to her backyard to say goodbye; her parents are getting divorced and she is moving across the U.S. to the big city with her mom. While her three friends can hear and speak to one another, Kaia cannot hear them...yet. Arbor, Rio, and Zephyr search for one last gift to add to Kaia's shoebox of earth memories such as a rock, leaf, and a kite string. However, Kaia has actually come to return these gifts to them. She asks her friends to help her relive the memories of when she received these gifts since they remind her of a much happier time with her parents. Arbor thinks of the perfect gift to remind Kaia that they are always with her, no matter where the wind takes her in life.

The sample provides the cover page, character/setting page, and the first and last page of the 10-page script. The top of the script's first page provides suggestions for set pieces. Lots of room for interpretation and creativity.
