    Description

These "whodunit" style classroom murder mystery games will have your students collecting and evaluating information, making inferences, identifying red herrings, practicing speaking and listening skills and so much more! This activity will have your students' full attention as they try to find the "killer" or "culprit" at the homecoming dance or winter formal. These interactive activities include all necessary pieces to run your own murder mystery or whodunit game in the classroom!

    Murder at the Dance

Setting the Scene: During the homecoming dance, the dead body of Miss Martin, a young English teacher, has been found. The police have arrived on scene and are questioning everyone at the dance to try and solve the mystery of Miss Martin’s demise. While there is some evidence and a few suspects, everyone must be questioned to get to the bottom of what really happened to Miss Martin.

A Christmas Classroom Mystery: Ruined Classroom

Setting the Scene: Every year, the festive English teacher, Mrs. Frost, goes all out to decorate her classroom for Christmas. However, the night of the winter dance, she walks in to see that her classroom has been completely destroyed. The Christmas tree has been thrown over and broken ornaments are scattered all over the ground. The Christmas lights around the room have been torn down and everything is in disarray. Her cheerful room has been completely vandalized. So far, the pieces of evidence found by investigators include a ripped up note signed from Faith and a trail of glitter leading out the door. While there is some evidence and a few suspects, everyone must be questioned to find out what actually happened.

    Each product includes:

    • A "Teacher Instructions Sheet" with step-by-step instructions on how to run the game and distribute materials to students
    • A "Teacher Answer Sheet" that includes the final solution to the game as well as a timeline of all events to help you better understand what happened in the game
    • A "Character List & Class Size Explanation Sheet" listing all possible characters (including necessary, secondary, and extra characters) as well as a section recommending how to play with many/few people
    • A two-sided "Evidence Sheet" that contains the names of each character and columns for students to record any clues, motives, or alibis from other characters
    • 18 Character Cards that consist of the following information: Character name and occupation, what each character remembers and the last time they saw Miss Martin or were in the classroom (this includes 7 Main Character Cards, 6 Secondary Character Cards, and 5 Extra Character Cards)
    • 18 Name Cards that students can wear to identify one another easily

    Instructions:

Print the materials in this product, cut out the pieces that are outlined, and make sure the Evidence Sheet is two-sided. After that, use the "Teacher Instructions Sheet" to explain the game to students and proceed to hand out Character Cards to each student. The instructions within this product are very specific and easy to follow!
