Holocaust - The Butterfly Project - I Never Saw Another Butterfly-

Teaching the Holocaust to elementary students can be a challenging task.

The idea and inspiration for this project come from the Holocaust Museum Houston, which has initiated the Butterfly Project to commemorate the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust.

✏️ These activities can complement your Holocaust units.

✏️ Students will explore the history of the Terezin Concentration Camp.

✏️ Students will engage in reading and discussions centered around the poem "I Never Saw Another Butterfly."

✏️ Students will create butterflies symbolizing change, freedom, hope, and life, serving as a memorial for those who perished in the Holocaust.

These butterflies represent hope for a world where all people and religions find their place.

Use this unit to encourage:

• Creativity through self-expression and critical thinking.
• To remember and honor the victims of the Holocaust.
