What educators are saying

This is an excellent resource! I used this with my students who can become easily disengaged, and this helped them stay on track and remember key pieces of information.
This resource is a great addition to any Odyssey unit. Whether the students read excerpts of the original Epic or Simon Armitage's dramatic translation, the questions posed in the resource all students to engage and think critically alongside other supplemental resources while reading The Odyssey.

Description

The Odyssey can be a challenging read for students. This collection of chapter-by-chapter (or, more accurately, book-by-book) questions for Homer's epic poem The Odyssey was designed to help students focus their reading and clarify the twists and turns of Odysseus' long journey back to Ithaka.

The reading comprehension questions are offered here in a variety of formats, including a reusable paper-saving option, paperless Google interactive worksheets, and traditional consumable worksheets. The download also includes an answer key.

Note: I use Robert Fitzgerald’s translation of Homer's epic poem in my class and my question set follows that publication's plot order and character spellings. Before purchasing, please check to make sure your text follows the Fitzgerald version. If it doesn't, you'll likely need to slide the order of events and/or explain variations in spellings. For example: Ithaka vs. Ithaca, Kirke vs. Circe, etc.
