Homophones
Description
Group activity with assessments, 38 slides, and a creative assignment! 20 pairs of Homophones. Step-b-step instructions!
Engagement:
Hand out individual or team slips of paper that have a word on it (from slides 1 & 13) that will match with another student’s/team's slip of paper. Students will be instructed to walk around the room and find their matching homophones. Once they have found their match, have them sit down, and they will determine the context of each word with their pair/team.
While still In pairs, students will share with the class what their pair of homophones is, then, those students will fill In their words In the blanks on the board.
Nonlinguistic Language: I will then introduce 10 new pairs of homophones and with each pair, create a mnemonic device to help the students remember.
Once we are done, students will draw a picture containing at least TWO pairs of homophones.
