What educators are saying

My creative writing students loved this unit in October! It was fun to teach and experience with my students.
This was a truly fantastic addition to our horror unit. The kids loved "Out of Skin." These are high interest activities.

    Description

This incredibly flexible horror genre study unit will turn students into masters of foreshadowing, suspense, mood, and more with fun, engaging, and creepy tales! Students will learn about the horror genre, then read three scary stories, before exploring writing a horror narrative themselves.

This unit is designed to fill about two weeks. Depending on your class length and whether you assign homework or not, you could make this unit longer or shorter. Every component in this bundle can be delivered in person or remotely.

With lesson plans and answer keys or rubrics for every assignment, this 2-week unit is great to have in your back pocket should you fall ill or have an emergency. This unit can be a great enrichment unit, can be taught piecemeal around Halloween to add some fun reading and writing to your class, or can be left in a subfolder for emergencies.

Whether you're looking for some Halloween English fun or just desperately need two weeks of meaningful resources, this unit is great to have ready to go in your filing cabinet!
