What educators are saying

My students thought these dances were very fun. This resource made teaching them super easy for someone who doesn't dance. We really loved this unit a lot!
This is great. I highly recommend this resource especially if you don't have experience teaching dance.

Description

This teacher resource is a dance steps cheat sheet for 8 of my favorite dances for PE Class.

Dances included in this guide:
- The Wobble
- Cha Cha Slide
- Cupid Shuffle
- Sid Shuffle
- Chicken Dance
- Hokey Pokey
- The Whip Nae Nae
- The Jump Song
- Additional Links and Ideas

For each dance I've included a few teaching tips, how I teach each part and a link to a youtube video tutorial of the dance in action (these are public links, but it will save you some time)

Please Note: I do not own the music files for any of these songs and you will have to purchase or find the actual music files somewhere else (Youtube, Amazon, iTunes)

The reason I teach these popular line dances (or group dances) is most kids will hear them again at a wedding, party or reception and I want them to feel comfortable joining in with the crowd on the dance floor.

In my opinion, line dances are more relevant than some other options you might be considering like square dancing or folk dancing since there’s a higher probability that kids will see the song again sometime.

Also, once your students’ know the steps – these dances are great for a PE warmup or instant activity before you get into a lesson.

Remember, there’s no wrong way to dance, just have fun and stay on the beat. I’ve found that kids are more likely to buy into a dance, get silly and have a good time if they see me doing the same thing – so set an example, loosen up, don’t be scared to bust a move and as always…

Have Fun and Teach On!
