Human Impact on Biodiversity (Island Biogeography) Lesson BUNDLE for APES

This TWO-day complete lesson bundle (PowerPoint presentation, guided notes, classwork activities) aligns with AP Environmental Science (APES) Unit 2: A Living World - Biodiversity and Unit 9 - Global Change. 3. Matching guided notes with blanks. This allows students to watch and listen, while only noting key vocabulary and labeling of diagrams. I find this is the most effective note-taking style.

5. A FUN, effective, and efficient in-person Island Biogeography Lab. There are MANY different activities you could do for Island Biogeography. There is a popular virtual experiment, but why do that when students could learn it through a hands-on approach! The entire lab takes about 1 hour:

• 18 Minutes: Students will first watch the video, "Biointeractive, From Ants to Grizzles, A General Rule for Saving Biodiversity," and answer video questions directly on the Island Biogeography lab sheet.
• 20 minutes: Setting up and gathering lab data
• 20 minutes: Discussing data and answering post-lab questions. These questions were written to align with the knowledge they have to know for the AP exam!
