What educators are saying

I love all Business Girl resources! I used this as supplemental material for both my business law class and principles of business and marketing class.
I liked having the templates for analyzing and creating an employee handbook, but we went another route in our lessons on human resources and handbooks. Thank you for making this available for purchase.

    Products included in this bundle:

Employee Handbook Human Resources (HR) Project: In this human resources project, high school business students will create an employee handbook for a specialty store of their creation. Topics to be covered in the employee manual include company information, procedures for employee hiring, procedures for employee release, orientation, performance assessments, grievances, and compensation packages.

This resource includes project instructions to guide employee handbook creation, a planning worksheet to help students organize ideas, a grading rubric to assess student mastery, and 5 reflection prompts to cumulate learning.

Employee Relations (HR) Discussion Question Chat Stations: This discussion activity is the perfect addition to your high school human resources unit or course covering positive and negative morale in the workplace, positive work environments, strategies for dealing with poor work performance, consequences of poor work performance, onboarding, expectations for employees, and how expectations vary within different career fields, etc.

If you're not familiar with the idea of chat stations, it is essentially a type of gallery walk where students move around the room to discuss questions. This product contains 10 open-ended discussion questions on employee relations for a high school business class. After the activity, discuss student responses with the provided discussion guide. This strategy may help students feel more comfortable participating in class when they have had time to discuss each question with a peer before the whole class discussion. The print version will get students out of their seats as they engage with the content.

Compensation Write the Room Scavenger Hunt: In this activity, students will explore pay schedule options for employees. Key terms include regular full-time, regular part-time, exempt, non-exempt, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, merit, overtime, commission, pay scale, salary grade, bonus, company vehicle, employer-paid insurance premiums, and base pay.

This file includes 15 application-based prompts for students to match with key terminology. Students will move around the room to read each prompt and use the word bank on their worksheets to record their responses. An alternate worksheet is provided without the terms if you prefer not to give students the word bank. This is an easy differentiation tool. Three reflection questions are also included in the activity. An answer key is included to review correct responses.

International Labor Laws Human Resources Project: In this project, students will investigate labor laws in countries around the world. Students will work with a partner or small group to research the GDP, unemployment rate, productivity rate, minimum wage requirements, major labor laws, cultural considerations and practices related to the workplace, and noteworthy international politics for a foreign country. They will develop a meeting agenda and present their findings to the class. As the other students watch they will create a concept map with notes and at the end of the presentations students will evaluate which country would be the best and worst for business expansions.

This project is an interactive way to simulate a business meeting in the classroom, practice creating a professional document and present information to others in a clear and concise format. This resource includes project instructions, a research organizer worksheet to help students organize ideas, a grading rubric to assess student mastery, and a reflection activity with a short writing prompt to cumulate learning.

Employment Policies Human Resources Project: In this project, students will research employment policies and write an article for business professionals explaining the policy, what should be included in an employee handbook about the policy, possible consequences, and legal ramifications of the policy, and frequently asked questions that would interest the reader.

This resource includes project instructions, a research organizer worksheet to help students organize ideas, employment policy examples, a grading rubric (based on 60 points) to assess student mastery, and a gallery walk form for students to review their classmates' projects.

Human Resources Research Organizers: Students will research job posting elements, work environments, talent acquisition selection tools, and leadership styles to complete 4 organizers. This organizer set is great for visual learners and will guide your students through key human resources topics.
