What educators are saying

My students enjoyed this resource to wrap up our Industrial Revolution unit. I feel it gave them a firm foundation in learning about the inventions and inventors that changed our world.
Really enjoyed the station aspect of this activity and getting students moving around while working together.

Description

Looking for a one 30-45 minute lesson to teach the major inventions associated with the Industrial Revolution? This industrial revolution inventions activity can be done in stations and students fill out a worksheet as they move around the room.

I don't know about you, but my textbook doesn't "cut it" with the inventions. It seems the information is in multiple places and skips around. I created this lesson so that all of the inventions mentioned below are in one place! This can be used as a station activity or group work.

Recent update: Google Slides™ version included!

This lesson includes:

  • Graphic organizer for the students to fill out (with Key)
  • 1 page summaries of the following inventions:
  • Interchangeable Parts
  • Steamboat
  • Steel Plow
  • Mechanical Reaper/Threshing Machine
  • Cotton Gin
  • Telegraph/Morse Code

plus Exit Ticket

  • The GOOGLE Slides™ version is very similar to the paper version. Students take notes on the graphic organizer slides and then have a drag and drop activity to rank the inventions.

Teacher feedback:

  • Mary B says, "I love using stations when my students are being introduced to a new concept. This activity was perfect for our Industrial Revolution Unit. It is one I will repeat each year."
  • Sara D. says, "Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for to help my students to better understand the inventions. Thank you!"
  • Catie F says, "These were so great! My students loved being able to get up and move around and work independently. It was a great resource and broke up the day in a wonderful way. The information was wonderful and it is a resource I will be using for years to come."
