This wordless video is a 5 minute story about a girl in a mysterious doll shop with an unsuspecting ending. 

The companion sheet provides STOP points throughout the video where students are required to make inferences.

Inferring Scavenger Hunt:

This Scavenger Hunt allows students to practice the valuable skill of inferring while having fun1 . Students 'scan' a QR code to get their statement that they have to make inferences from. Statements include Inferring emotion, inferring story events, inferring character traits, inferring emotion, drawing conclusions, inferring word meaning, inferring needs, inferring tone. Answering a question will lead them to an envelope which has an animal riddle (more critical thinking!) Gather the riddle answers and the students can solve the scavenger hunt! Once students understand the directions to this scavenger hunt they will be cooperative, engaged and learning and you sit back and enjoy! A true 'plug and play' lesson. One of my favorite teaching styles.

Inferring is Priceless:

This quick lesson features the skill of inferring. Packet includes printable and realistic looking 'receipts' that elicit inferring skills as students attempt to infer the event that is taking place based on the items listed on the receipt.

Great as a mini-lesson or as a review on the concept.

Six realistic, printable receipts are included along with a note-taking sheet.

Ordeal by Check:

This activity is a fantastic and engaging way to have your kids infer story events...especially at the end of the year!  Using a series of 21 checks written by a variety of people, students will sequence the checks and see if they can unravel the mystery that is embedded within the checks.  Students will work cooperatively and unceasingly to solve this mystery.  Its great inferring practice!!

This companion worksheet to the 'for the birds' short Pixar film is and AWESOME Plug and Play lesson.  It's perfect for reinforcing reading skills and a perfect lesson for sub plans.

As students watch the video For the Birds, there are stop points on the worksheet that ask students to make inferences, predict, identify theme, generalize, summarize and compare.  Students are also guided through the process of summarizing the narrative in a mini-lesson featuring the Somebody Wanted But So strategy of summarizing.
