What educators are saying

My students each studied a different insect for our school Museum Event and the structure helped me and them learn about these creatures efficiently and effectively. Each end product looked unique!
I used this over the course of two weeks. I put students in groups of 4 and they created their group insect reports. On the last day, each group presented to the class. They loved this activity! I have to purchase more! Thank you!

Description

INSECT REPORT - Insects and Informational Writing

This STUDENT REPORT TEMPLATE is a great way to support primary children as they learn how to research information and write in explanatory or informative forms. This resource will complement a study of insects or bugs and provide a purpose and audience for your students to share their new knowledge.

During this research project, each of your students will:

  • select an insect to learn more about
  • draw diagrams with labels
  • tell about its habitat and diet
  • discover whether it is helpful or harmful
  • share amazing facts.

This research can be structured individually or in cooperative pairings or small groups, allowing the children to learn with and from each other. Plan for a sharing expo where the students can showcase what they learned.
