Integer Operations Activity for Adding and Subtracting Integers

Teach integer operations logically with Hot Air Balloons by adding and subtracting integers. Visually demonstrate positive integer movement, negative integer movement and double negatives in this Math Activity and Easel Activity.

With the use of puffs of air (positive integers) and sandbags (negative integers), students will solve expressions by moving their hot air balloon on the board game. (The board game's number line ranges 20 and -20)

This activity/game also explains visually why 5 - (-3) = 8.

All game pieces are included with vibrant colors. Just print and laminate.

Directions on how to play the game and visual examples are also included.

For struggling students, additional game pieces and visual examples are included to aide in extra understanding.

An Easel Activity is included. The easel activity can be projected and used with an entire class or assigned after teaching students how to play the activity.

A twenty-question assessment is also included.
