How to Get Started Learning Japanese with Your Family Using This Bundle:

With these 3 resources for beginners, you can get started speaking Japanese at home right away! While it might be too challenging for younger children to learn how to read Hiragana (the Japanese lettering system) right away, even preschoolers can start learning how to pronounce Japanese words when they're written out phonetically in English!

Trying to pronounce words like itai and tsuki correctly might seem almost as difficult as if they were written in Hiragana for parents who don't speak Japanese! I recommend starting with the Japanese Pronunciation Posters. This set of 6 colorful posters will show you exactly how to pronounce the trickiest letters and letter combinations when learning Japanese. You can print them out for your homeschool space or binder, or use them on EASEL!

Next you can start setting up your Circle Time Board! It goes over how to read a calendar, the days of the week, months of the year, weather, emotions, seasons, numbers, and more.... in Japanese AND English. This is great for 3-7 year-olds because they can learn these concepts in both languages at the same time. I recommend starting the first few Japanese Number Classroom Posters at the same time as the Circle Time Board. Kids can learn numbers 0-31 using both the Number Posters and the Circle Time Board. Once they're feeling confident counting to 31 in Japanese, you can introduce additional Number Posters at your own pace!
