Ionic and Covalent Bonding Worksheet with Key

This worksheet (and Answer Key) is a great way to assess students' prior knowledge of ionic and covalent bonding. It is a great pre-assessment for high school chemistry classes, and a wonderful review activity for middle and high school classes that have already learned about bonding in class. On this sheet, you will find one example of a covalent bonding reaction and one example of an ionic bonding reaction. For each example, there are four questions that are specifically written to target students' basic understanding of each type of bonding. These questions can be altered according to your instructional needs. This can be used as a worksheet, or cut it up into a puzzle where students (or groups of students) must put together the puzzle and then answer the questions when finished.
