What educators are saying

I used this resource for regular education 8th-grade students. It was a great resource and kept them engaged! Thank you!
Some of the content was a little mature for my 6th graders, but this is a great concept for the classroom.

Description

360° View! Introduce, practice, or review the three types of irony (dramatic, situational, and verbal) in a fun, interactive way. This activity could be a great segue into Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado." This escape room is meant to be completed in a relatively short amount of time, so it would be great as an introductory activity that helps create buy-in and increase engagement at the beginning of a class period. This escape room could also be great for a minimum day or a review day.

No prep. Just post the link and go. (Unless you want to print the lock notes sheet.)

⚠️ While this resources is designated as "no prep," teachers will definitely want to preview the escape room ahead of time and make sure that they are comfortable with the clues, lock answers, and navigation of the escape room.

Plan 20-30 minutes for students to complete the escape room.

LOCK 1 : Reviews definitions.

LOCK 2: Includes 7 visual examples that students must identify as dramatic, situational, or verbal irony.

LOCK 3: Includes a very short story where students must read and apply their knowledge of the three types of irony.

The escape room can be completed 2:1 or 1:1.

⚠️ Teachers: PLEASE CHECK YOUR DISTRICT'S PRIVACY FILTER / FIREWALL PRIOR TO USING WITH STUDENTS. (Sometimes my digital escape rooms work just fine with teacher's accounts, but then student accounts receive error notifications or "request for access" notifications.)

⚠️ You will need access to Google Sites (can skip to Thinglink), Google Forms, Genial.ly, and Thinglink for this escape room experience. I do not have control over your district's network or its restrictions, and if students are not authorized to access certain sites outside of the network, I am unable to solve these tech issues for you. You can contact your district's help desk / tech support to see if they can authorize access / unblock Google Sites.

Once again, direct all issues to the Q&A section. I will do my very best to help you. Some tech issues are outside of my control.
