Description
This spring, celebrate the Japanese holiday of Kodomo no Hi, or Children's Day! Make a koinobori, or carp fish streamer, that looks like the ones flown for Children’s Day in Japan.
Includes a lesson with images to show as well as a fun craft!
JAPAN: Kodomo no Hi, or Children’s Day, includes the following (all as Adobe files):
- An images file in a slideshow format with lessons on each slide - you can read lessons to students from your computer as you show them images on classroom Promethean board. No printing needed.
- Carp fish streamer (koinobori) craft - each step of instruction with photos is included. You may print out or project onto Promethean boards to follow. Tips for setup are included.
- Printable - outline of a carp fish that can be printed onto card stock. Students embellish with details, color, and a paint wash.
Materials needed for craft include white standard size card stock for printable, tissue paper, crayons, diluted craft acrylic paint in assorted colors plus white (tiny 2 oz. bottles are perfect) , permanent markers (these must be permanent or they will bleed), scissors, and string. Cotton balls and q-tips are used to apply paint.
