Description

Do your students know who Jim Crow was? My students are always shocked to learn about this interesting topic. This reading comprehension and DBQ product will give your students a basic understanding of what the Jim Crow laws were and how they impacted African Americans. The article is 1100-1200 Lexile range and has clearly marked subtitles for each section. This helps students refer back to the article when answering the questions. There are 33 total questions including true/false, multiple choice, and document-based questions to take their understanding to the next level. The documents used are: a photo, cartoon, poll tax example, poster, and poem. I have used this in my seventh grade Social Studies class for years, with many tweaks along the way, and have found a great amount of success.
